Time Flies, Try to Catch It

I caught Mac Miller later in his career; his album Swimming was the one that hooked me as a fan. As I began listening to his catalogue, I quickly realized I had missed out years of listening to some great music. Prior to Swimming I only knew of his early mixtapes and independent releases that didn’t really connect with me so I didn’t really follow his career.

I wish I had.

Not only did I miss out on years of listening to his music, but I also missed the opportunity to see him perform live.

Yesterday his album GO:OD AM turned ten years old and Mac’s team released this short film.

Watching it made me happy—seeing him clown around behind the scenes and seeing his genius as we created music lit me up.

Watching it made me sad—seeing such a talented and genuine person whose life was cut short.

I’m glad that Malcom McCormick’s life wasn’t defined by his tragic death but by his music and positive influence he left on his fans and everyone around him.

Keep pursuing,

JC
