Merry Clipsemas!

Today has been a much-anticipated day for lovers of hip-hop; I’m a long-time fan, and today was like Christmas Clipsemas Day!

The Clipse reunited with Pharrell Williams and released their first album in fifteen years (I stayed up past my bedtime so I could preview the entire album at midnight when it dropped on all of the streaming platforms)—it was supposed to be released last year, but we will all let that slide because the album was more than worth the wait.

And not only did we get a classic album, we were also blessed with a perfect rollout from a marketing standpoint.

Interviews.

Fashion collabs.

Listening parties.

NPR Tiny Desk.

The lead-up to today’s release was just as meticulous as Pharrell’s production on the album.

I’ve had a pretty busy day of calls, appointments, and driving my taxi for the boys, but I’ve managed to listen to the album multiple times and watch the interviews I hadn’t had a chance to see yet, or that came out today.

Maybe it’s just me, but hearing stories about the recording of the album, learning about the songs, and watching everything unfold inspires me; the creativity, the intention, the discipline, and the execution to coordinate and pull off this album release experience is something the creative director in me dreams of being a part of one day.

There might only be a handful of readers who appreciate this Omen, but I had to curate all of the interviews so I can easily revisit them in the future, and to help others gain an understanding of why I’m so excited today.

Enjoy the Tiny Desk Concert!

Keep pursuing,

JC
