moving at a slower pace
If you’ve ever been to Sedona, you will probably understand what I’m about to try to explain.
Time there seems to move a little slower.
After spending a few days there last week, one of the things I’m trying to hold onto now that I’m home is how slowly the day seemed to pass.
Maybe it was because I’d wake up each morning at 4:00 and then 5:00 to FaceTime the boys before they went to school, so my day was kind of starting early, but I’d go back to sleep until about 6:00, so I would be working on EST, where the majority of my clients are. So I’m not sure that’s it.
Maybe it was the quiet of the town. At any point during the day, I could step out on the patio and stand in complete silence. The only sounds were the birds chirping and the wind blowing.
Maybe it’s the energy of the vortexes that play tricks on our sense of time.
I swear one morning we woke up, visited my favorite coffee shop (shoutout to (FreeForm Coffee Roasters), went for a hike, stopped at Whole Foods, and when I got back to the house to work, it was only 10:00. I had a full day of work ahead of me, yet I had already accomplished so much in just a few hours.
None of it felt rushed.
I remember the first time I went to Sedona how I felt like I was flying down the interstate, only to realize I was going the speed limit—35 MPH.
Obviously, if I’m in Sedona and my family is back in Fishers, IN, three variables are missing that create a ton of busyness in my day. So maybe the slower days were just not having to fit in drives to school and practices amongst the rest of the day.
All I know is that on multiple occasions, I recognized the slower pace in Sedona and how much I enjoyed and appreciated not feeling rushed throughout the day.
Since I can’t port the energy of Sedona to Fishers, and it’s not quite time to purchase a second home out there to spend part of the year, I’m really focusing on planning out my days to avoid running from one thing to the next without time to just be—a prime example of what I should not do is head immediately from yoga class to the gym three days a week to workout.
Some things won’t be able to be spaced out as much as I’d like.
However, there are plenty of things I can do to protect my time and build in space to move a little slower.
I feel like we’re all rushing around and that life might be a little more enjoyable at a slightly slower pace.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
