bring forth what is within you

“If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not have within you will kill you."

-Jesus, Verse 70, Gospel of Thomas

Allow me to share my interpretation of this quote from Jesus.

“what is within you” = your Authentic Self.

“what you do not have within you” = inauthenticity.

“kill you” = not literal, although possible, keep you from enjoying life to its fullest. Discontentment, frustration, unhappiness, regret, and other feelings keep you from actually living life—you just get through it.

The encouragement to live your Authentic Life has long existed, with guidance from some of the most enlightened, mystical, and holy figures (all synonyms in my book).

My takeaway from Jesus’s words, according to the Gospel of Thomas, is that the only way to live life to its fullest is to bring forth what is within you, and live your Authentic Life—the one you were created to live.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
