ask your Self
Yesterday I had the opportunity to record a new episode of the AlignedLife Podcast with Scott Britton, which was a lot of fun. He’s someone I’ve reached out to before on Twitter and had some back-and-forth in the DMs, and I knew one day I wanted to have him as a guest to talk about his journey and discuss consciousness.
A couple of weeks ago, he posted that he was looking to appear on podcasts to discuss his upcoming book, Conscious Accomplishment. That was all I needed to see to take my shot, and for a change, I made it!
I’ll be dropping the episode in early October to help promote and support the book, but I wanted to share one theme that I kept noticing while we were talking.
Our bodies, both physical and metaphysical, are constantly communicating with us and teaching us about our Selves.
Every emotion.
Every reaction.
Every ache and pain.
Every thought.
Everything allows us to ask, “Why?”
Why do I feel that way?
Why was that my reaction?
Why am I feeling that pain? (I came across an interesting book, Metaphysical Anatomy, while in Sedona, and looked up shoulder pain– the diagnosis was very interesting.)
Why did I think that?
When you look deeper into the root cause, you can gain a better understanding of your Self; it’s in this understanding that growth and change occur.
If you experience a negative response to a trigger, examining why you are reacting negatively can help you identify the underlying cause of your response, which may eventually lead to overcoming that negative response.
I find my Self often examining “why” as I go throughout my day. For me, this is a fun exercise and has kept me spending less time scrolling social media because I’m spending more free time trying to learn more about my Self.
So the next time you catch your Self responding to something, positively or negatively, stop and examine why you are responding that way.
You’ll be surprised how much you can learn and grow just by paying attention to your Self.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
