money isn’t evil

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”

- 1 Timothy 6:10

In your lifetime, you’ve undoubtedly heard the old saying,

”Money is the root of all evil.”

Well, it’s not.

The original Bible quote from which it was derived has a significantly different message.

It doesn’t tell us that money itself is evil, but that the love of it is “A” root of evil; it doesn’t even say that love is “THE” source of evil.

This false rewording of the Bible verse is the root of many people’s money scripts that have kept them in an unhealthy relationship with money. I’ve shared in the past how a derivative of this false narrative shaped a money script I had to overcome—I used to avoid setting income goals because I was afraid that if I focused on making more money, it would bring “bad” things to me.

I eventually developed the understanding that the motivation behind pursuing more income was important. As long as my goal of increasing my income was rooted in good intentions, then more money wasn’t a bad thing—in fact, it was a good thing, because I would be able to help more people.

Loving money is much different than having and using money for good.

When you start to fall in love with money, you are more likely to compromise your values and fall out of alignment, and that is when “evil” can begin to creep in.

This manipulation of sacred words is just one example of how your understanding and views on money have been shaped in a way that does not serve you.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
