consistency

This is Daily Note #947.

When I first started writing these Notes, I didn’t set out to have some streak or write as many as I have–I just felt like I was supposed to be writing. The idea for each day’s Note would just show up, and they still are; I’ve only missed a few days over the last couple of years because of travel and a funeral.

I’m happy to say that I have yet to publish a Note that I didn’t think was worthy of hitting publish.

Sure, there are some Notes that I think are better than others, and sometimes, I feel like I’m taking the easy route by just sharing a quote. But, I quickly remind my Self that I’m just the vessel or the translator for the Notes, and even if I’m just sharing a quote, it was put in front of me for a reason.

Who am I to question the real Source behind the Notes?

This morning, I was thinking about today’s Note, and I thought about how one of the most significant benefits to me of the Notes is the continual growth and progress around the authentic life, the alignment of spirit, mind, body, & money, and creativity. I know that if I didn’t write every day, if I didn’t show up to put out a Note, even if it is just a quote, and if I didn’t continue to be open to the messages from the true Source behind them, I would not have found the clarity I have in my purpose.

If I stopped writing a few months in because my subscriber list was slow growing or I didn’t get many likes on social media, then I would have probably fallen back into another phase of experimentation and exploration.

I’m hopeful every day that when I share my Note it resonates with at least one person (thank you to everyone who has hit reply or sent me a DM to let me know when one does), but I’ve realized the purpose of the Daily Notes hasn’t been to grow my audience–I think that has been a secondary benefit–but for my own growth.

Writing every day has not only helped me grow, but also has kept me focused in the same direction and avoided distractions, which ultimately has helped me grow even more.

Consistency is often talked about in the creator community, and its importance is stressed—the key to building an audience is to be consistent. And this is true. But sometimes consistency, outside of creating as well, is necessary for your personal growth, not just business.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
