Expanding Awareness with Jeff Williams

After 27 years in corporate sales and relationship management, my friend Jeff Williams felt the misalignment in his work show up as real pain in his body. In this episode, Jeff shares how he knew it was time to leap, how he prepared, and the question that helped him go: do I deserve to free myself from a toxic environment?

We started with empathy, which Jeff describes as hearing the need behind the need. That led into his “sending love” practice, which he uses with family, with people from his past (including a ninth-grade bully), and even with drivers who cut him off. It’s something anyone can try today.

From there, the conversation went deeper than I planned, and I’m glad it did. We talked about how Jeff defines spirituality, why our inner state shapes how we see the outer world, whether collective awareness is expanding, and his path from Southern Baptist roots, through years of agnosticism, to writing about mystical Christianity.

Jeff closed with a reminder I needed: all of these books and teachings exist to help us become better parents, partners, and friends. You don’t have to read them all. Start by noticing how you show up each day.

Thank you, Jeff, for this conversation and for the light you bring.
