You Can’t Escape Santiago

Winks from the Universe happen to me quite often, and every time they do I smile. I’ll never stop appreciating the little signs from the Divine letting me know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Last week I made a quick trip to Baltimore to visit a friend and lead a literal fireside conversation about money and our Authentic Lives with a group of men that he meets with regularly.

When I got to my friend’s house and dropped my bags off in the room I’d be staying in, I was greeted by a copy of The Alchemist peeking out of a basket.

It almost looks like it was placed there intentionally, to give me a warm welcome. And it was, just not by my friend or his partner—they are thoughtful, but I know there was no thought to what books were placed in that basket. Once I saw the book, I knew my talk that night would be special.

A couple of days later I received a text message from this same friend. He and his partner had travelled down to Savannah, GA to visit her family and they were greeted by a book when they checked into their AirBnB.

I’ll let you guess what book it was…

You can’t make this stuff up.

I think it’s important to stress that I don’t walk around looking for “signs”. I do, however, walk around open to receiving them and try my best to be present so that I don’t miss them—I can’t help but wonder how many winks I’ve missed over the years because of being distracted.

I share this Omen with you as a reminder to be open to the signs, receive them, and to make sure you reflect upon them to understand what they mean for you.
