the power of now
Last weekend, I picked up my copy of Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now to read for the third time.
The first time, I wasn’t ready for it and didn’t finish it.
The second time, a lot of it clicked, but there was still a lot that I couldn’t fully comprehend.
This time I’m picking up more than I did the first two times—accessing the Now is making more sense and requires me to think less about it, which I think would make Eckhart happy.
Yesterday, I realized something pretty cool about that second reading—it was almost four years to the day that I started reading it this time.
Thanks to IG reminding me that Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers dropped four years ago this week, I remembered that this week was the same week I was reading Eckhart’s words.
I remember this because I kept hearing Eckhart’s name throughout the album. I vividly remember noticing the synchronicity that my favorite artist’s new album referenced the author of the book I had just happened to start reading, of all weeks to start reading it. It wasn’t until later that I realized that Eckhart is actually on the album—I didn’t recognize his voice until I started watching some of his videos and listening to some podcasts after finishing the book.
I don’t track album release dates, so you might say it’s a coincidence that I started reading The Power of Now this past weekend, but I know there’s no such thing as a coincidence.
I don’t think it means anything special that I am reading the same book almost exactly four years later—I take it as a wink from the Divine that I’m continuing on the right path.
I definitely know I’m supposed to be reading it right now. I find my Self highlighting some of the same sections (black ink last time), while highlighting new sections (blue ink this time) that connect now (I’m going to use a different pen color each time I read, so I can look back and see what resonated with each reading), and if I think about the personal growth that happened on the other side of my reading four years ago, I’m excited about what might be in store this time.
Black ink four years ago. Blue ink now.
I highly recommend picking up a copy of The Power of Now and plan on giving it a few reads; it’s a book that will speak to you where you are in your Pursuit. As you continue to grow and your consciousness expands, you’ll pick up more from Eckhart.
If I were to create a list of must-read books, this would be near the top—and yes, I am working on it.
I’ll leave you with a quote that I partially highlighted four years ago and added to it this morning as I read it.
“So it is essential to bring more consciousness into your life in ordinary situations when everything is going relatively smoothly. In this way, you grow in presence power. It generates an energy field in you and around you of a high vibrational frequency. No unconsciousness, no negativity, no discord or violence can enter that field and survive, just as darkness cannot survive in the presence of light.”
Keep pursuing,
