Self-made
A couple of weeks ago, a couple of my friends and I were discussing the subject of being self-made—a social media post sparked the conversation.
Claiming to be self-made has become en vogue and is often made by an individual in an effort to portray a happier life than their reality; it’s usually represented by material possessions, titles, and other superficial metrics of “success”. Being self-made is one of those claims that those who actually are self-made never make because it was never about becoming self-made.
The other day, I began to think about the word “self-made” and realized we should all strive to be Self-made. Not in the same way you might see people claiming on social media. Instead, becoming Self-made because our lives have been designed by our Self.
A new way to look at being Self-made is through the lens of your Authentic LIfe.
Anyone living their Authentic Life is Self-made.
You may not have the fancy car. You may not have the big house. You may not have your own company.
Or you may have all of those and more.
But those do not impact whether or not you are living your Authentic Life, as they are merely details, not the purpose.
Much like those who fall under the traditional definition of self-made, those who are Self-made also don’t need to broadcast it to the world.
It will be felt.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
