see and do

This evening we watched Michael, and about an hour in, Michael Jackson describes his vision and drops this important but easily missed line.
As you can see, he had some very specific and ambitious goals—even his manager interrupts him to let him know his vision is ambitious.
“It’s got to be the greatest-selling album of all time. Not just by a black artist, but by any race, any color. Then I want the largest concert tour there ever was— just stadiums only. Just thousands and thousands of people, just rushing into the stadiums. Just all over the world.
I also want to make short films featuring my music.
I can see it.
If you can see it, you can do it.
I see it so clearly.”
There is no doubt that much of Michael’s success is attributed to his one-of-a-kind writing, singing, and dancing. But what isn’t given enough credit is his ability not only to see his vision, but to believe in his Self and execute it.
Without the belief that he could do whatever he saw, he would not have the music career he has or the impact he has had on the world.
If understanding that you cannot do something you are unable to see your Self and believe in was a core principle for one of the greatest and most successful artists of all time, don’t you think it should be a good principle for you as well?
And a side note: I love how his vision wasn’t just music. As someone who has visions that span multiple areas, I appreciate how he followed his passions.
