be brave

Last night I finally went to see Project Hail Mary. I read the book last year in just a few days and couldn’t wait for the movie once I heard one was coming out. I figured I’d go to a late show by myself since Roman would be hanging out at the hotel with his teammates, and I’d just be up in my room by myself—I might as well be by myself at the movies seeing a movie I know none of my family would enjoy.

A quick side note: a younger version of my Self would have never imagined going to the movies by his Self. He wouldn’t even go in and eat at a restaurant by himself. Funny how we change over time and become less worried about others.

In one of the scenes, Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling’s character) is talking with Commander Yao about how he isn’t brave like those heading to space on a mission where they know they will not return.

Commander Yao tells Grace, “Bravery is not a gene. You just need to find someone to be brave for.” (I may have this quote a little off because as soon as I heard it I grabbed my phone to jot it down in my notes app, so it might be a word or two off, but the message is accurate).

Pursuing your Authentic Life requires you to be brave.

You need to have the bravery to:

  • listen to your heart and intuition

  • do what feels right to you

  • go against what society has told you is “right” for you

  • remove misaligned people, places, and things from your life

  • be the Authentic version of your Self

The more you embrace your Authentic Self, the easier it becomes. But the transition of living more aligned can be difficult or scary at times—-depending on how much change is required.

So be brave.

Be brave, first for your Self.

Be brave for your family.

Be brave for others who need the best version of your Self.

Be brave for the world—we need your Authentic Self and all that you bring.

You have plenty of people to be brave for, so go be brave.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
