be bored

"Creativity is the residue of time wasted.”

-Albert Einstein

I’m trying to find more time to be bored.

Instead of turning on a podcast while cooking or grabbing a book when I have a few free minutes, I’m focusing on appreciating the lack of stimulation.

A little more time with my thoughts. Practicing being the observer of my thoughts. Being more present. Giving my mind a rest.

As you can imagine, it’s not as easy as it sounds, but I’m getting better at the practice and enjoying the peace and the way the day seems to slow down a little more.

Society doesn’t encourage us to be bored.

We’re encouraged to grind and optimize our lives to maximize our output, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow the crowd.

Start small.

Go for a walk without your headphones. Make your morning coffee without scrolling on your phone. Meditate for twenty minutes.

Do nothing. Be bored.

And see what boredom brings you.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
