Is this quote encouraging us to be more present?
Is this quote reminding us that the answers we seek are in the past or the future, but within us right now?
Is this quote telling us something less obvious than what we see in our initial read?
I’m fascinated by quotes like this, which have been sharing important truths with us for a long time and come from times when information and communication were not like they are now. Today, many people share wisdom they’ve learned throughout their lives, but for the most part, these lessons and ideas have been planted in their minds thanks to technology making access to information easy.
This doesn’t make the lessons and ideas shared any less valuable, by any means.
I find it amazing that people like Emerson recognize truths like the one above while sitting in the woods and just being in nature.
The important life lessons have always been right before us, if we knew where to look.
