master of your life

In 2023 I gave a talk in the Keep Pursuing Series called “are you living someone else’s life?” and wrote a poem inspired by the talk called “who’s got the pen?” that focused on reflecting on whether or not you are in “the master of your life” or “the pawn in someone else’s game” as Dispenza said in one of his many talks.
Others want you to be the pawn in their game for many reasons.
Money.
Power.
Control.
Insecurity.
You’ll never live your authentic life as the pawn in someone else’s game. Your energy is extremely valuable, possibly the most valuable asset you possess, and many of us direct it away from things that serve us.
If you are feeling frustrated, stuck, unhappy, pick your low-energy emotion, there is a good chance you are not in the position of the master of your life.
The good news is you can transition from pawn to master, just like you can transition from pawn to a more powerful piece in chess (I always go queen).
Just like when a pawn makes its way across the board to become a queen, your journey to master of your life will require time, strategy, thoughtfulness, risk, and it definitely won’t be a straight line.
But it’s possible…no matter where you find your Self today.
The first step is to determine what position you are currently in—whether or not you are holding the pen to your life’s story—and then take action.
