the magnetic force of embodiment
This is not your typical Thanksgiving Day post, but that doesn't mean I'm not thankful for you and your support of The Daily Notes! I love writing these each day, and I would continue to do so even if no one were subscribed, but the writing is more rewarding when I see people opening the emails, sharing the posts, and responding with their own comments. So on this day of giving thanks, I want to thank you for being with me on my Pursuit of my Authentic Life, which includes these Daily Notes.
Ok, on to today's Note...
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve noticed a subtle but powerful change within my Self.
As I tried to explain it to a few friends, I finally figured out what had happened. I’d moved from a phase of envisioning, wanting, and thinking about to embodiment.
I can’t think back to a specific moment where a switch was flipped, and it’s hard to explain, but I can feel the difference within, and I’m seeing the world respond to the change. The best I can do to try to explain the feeling is that I’m no longer envisioning or thinking about the version of my Self that I was moving towards–I’m already him–you can’t necessarily see all of the changes yet.
Embodiment happens first. The world sees it later–there’s a lag between the internal shift and external changes.
I mentioned the world is beginning to respond to the version of my Self that I’ve started embodying, and it didn’t take long.
Wednesday morning, I opened up my work email to an inquiry about my speaking fee for a keynote opportunity next spring.
That may not sound like a big deal, but for me it is, and it reflects the version of my Self that I began embodying. For years, I’ve spoken about my desire to do more public speaking; I even created my own speaking opportunities in the Keep Pursuing Series. I envisioned it. I believed it. Energetically, I sent out my desire to speak to the world. I even pitched my Self a few times with no luck.
But within a couple of weeks of my internal shift, I get a cold email that I know will lead to a keynote opportunity this spring, and I’m already thinking about what the talk will be about.
Envisioning, wanting, thinking about, and taking action will help bring you closer to what you want, but embodying the version of your Self that already has what you want is a whole other level of power–it will bring it much faster.
Embodiment isn’t faking it until you make it. It’s not an external shift.
Embodiment is believing and knowing. It’s an internal shift.
I don’t know yet how to put into words how you move into embodiment. I do, however, know how to guide people toward embodiment through the process I take clients through in my AlignedLife+ relationship.
The best I can give you in this note is that by continuing to hold onto the vision of the version of your Self you are pursuing, believing in that version, energetically putting your Self on the same frequency as that version, and taking action to move towards that version, you can flip the switch just as I did.
And when you do it once, you’ll understand how YOU can do it again with more intention and quickly.
As you become clearer about who your Authentic Self is and what your Authentic Life looks like, begin to embody that version of your Self and see how quickly the world starts to respond.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
