suffocate negativity with gratitude

This morning, in the final minutes of my yoga class, the instructor said something that I really felt.

We were ending class with shavasana, lying on our backs in stillness, and she encouraged us to practice three minutes of gratitude.

“When you are in gratitude, it’s impossible for negativity to exist.”

It’s true.

Negativity cannot occupy your mind or body when you are practicing gratitude.

This could be a great tool to use throughout the day. As soon as you notice that you are drifting into negative thoughts, immediately start to think about all that you have to be grateful for–I don’t care what is going on in your life, there is something to be grateful for.

I’ve noticed that once you find one thing to be grateful for, it becomes easier to find something else, then something else, and so on. So find even the smallest thing to express gratitude for, and let that grow into more, and push out or keep away the negativity that is looking for a home.

Suffocate the negative thoughts with gratitude.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
